Re: “Manitobans drowning in taxes, PCs say” (May 15) The Progressive Conservatives complain about rising property taxes while conveniently ignoring how they borrowed heavily to artificially lower them. In 2021 the PCs borrowed $190 million to pay for a 25 percent property tax rebate. They borrowed again in 2022 when the rebate jumped to 37.5 percent, and again in 2023 when they increased it to 50 percent. These PC rebates added hundreds of millions of dollars to Manitoba’s provincial debt, with millions more in annual interest charges. The PC rebates also provided the largest benefits to the wealthiest owners of expensive properties. Although I’m not convinced the province can truly afford any property-tax reductions, the NDP’s flat $1,500 Homeowners Affordability Tax Credit is at least fairer. Every homeowner receives the same credit, and lower-income seniors get an extra income-tested top-up. The PCs created a borrow-now, benefit-the-rich, pay-later scheme. Their complaints about Manitobans "drowning" in taxes lack credibility when their own tax policies flooded the province with debt.

The transphobia thing is old news, that’s why I haven’t bought any spitfire stuff in years, but I feel like a lot of people didn’t hear about it when it happened. The Splice thing is new though and I gotta say, I’m not particularly surprised!

Their player is bad, their samples are bad, their prices are bad, and most of all their owners are bad and transphobic. And they're obviously not getting any better.
