I watched this as a preteen in Jamaica(it wad in tv). I knew it was mediocre even back then, but I had fun with it (yes, i did enjoy two particular scenes, lol). Honestly, I think the premise and setup of the film is not half bad. If it had been made with more ambition, it could have been a classic.

I think it needs to be pointed out as well that Visa is clearly losing money off these calls clogging their systems and still thought it was worth the money to re-train their employees/contractors. Two of my Singapore-based friends don't get enough love for their graphic novels, so I wanted to give them a shout-out here. The first of these is Elvin Ching. The folks at the INKPULP podcast loved his book, THE WOODSMAN, and rightfully so.

A good story is a good story. Doesn't matter the genre.

I always love pages like this really using the medium to tell and serve the story in interesting ways.

Some of the most experimental Japanese comics work (in terms of page layouts and design) was being done for the Shojo demographic all the way up to the 80s when some of what had been done started to become design tropes you see everywhere now(a topic for another day). Jaw dropping, stuff honestly.

With today being the 80th anniversary of the Atomic Bomb being dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki it’s a good time to read I Saw It by Keiji Nakazawa; who was 6 years old when he witnessed the bomb hit.

It’s a very VERY rough read, but important too.
