In a meeting today, Sidsel Birk Hjuler pointed out a facet of motonormativity that even I had failed to see: why do we talk about people using people-sized vehicles as MICROmobility? How did people driving around with 4 empty seats get normalized as "mobility"?

Why has this not been done? There is no mention of any accounting for this at all. Are Galway County Council
trying to pull a stroke?

The public and planners deserve better and more complete information than what has been presented here.

We need to talk about San Francisco's e-bike problem E-bikes have exploded in popularity in San Francisco, but given their speed, they shouldn't be treated the same as normal bikes, writes SFGATE's Dan Gentile.

Unpopular opinion (among some urbanists):

The author is right. High-speed, battery-powered bikes are a menace in bike lanes.

They're dangerous for those biking slower, and they deter some people from biking at all. Who wants to ride with their 5-year old while someone zooms by at 28 mph?

I was frustrated but was thinking of people with buggies or wheelchair users having to take the long way around to get to the crossing for the Gateway shopping centre

Reducing average speed does have an impact though & as tech advances over the next decade, so will enforcement.

I think tech is going to come into playway more over the next decade. But the fact that L roads are down to 60kph at least means Google maps might not send poor bewildered tourists down these roads as a quickest route.
