Get a computer you fully own, even something low powered such as a Raspberry Pi clone or old laptop. Doesn't need to be online.

Then teach yourself C and the assembly language relevant to that platform.

Aside: If you actually want to learn computer science and are a high school student, ignore Code dot org nonsense and whatever M$ and Google are showing you in school. This is not a legitimate CS education and was never designed to be.

The ultimate fall of the Roman Empire has multiple factors, but a big one they do NOT tell you about until you get into post-secondary studies is how wealthy Romans stopped paying their taxes and basically destroyed the economy for everyone else.

I still have a DVD-R in storage, though it is an internal one. Thinking about seeing if I can find a USB one. There are definitely advantages to physical media backups in some cases.
