Every conversation with someone with ADHD is like the movie inception, where every bit of context they go to add might end up taking them another layer deeper, until you are seven context layers deep and might not find your way back.

I spent over 3 months filling out the intake forms for my autism assessment.
The first psychologist I saw then told me the sessions afterwards were basically just a formality at that point as my forms had been so detailed they felt confident I’d be diagnosed at the end and I was lmao

I mask when needed for work, school, etc., but I won’t mask in social situations anymore. No matter how hard I try to mimic NT communication,

1) It won’t be perfect, so it won’t work, &
2) It will always feel silly, confusing, & unnatural, & any friendships I make that way will be fake. #Autistic

Baroness Falkner of Margravine, whose term as the head of the Equality and Human Rights Commission ended last week, told The Times that Labour had lost touch with its “fundamental values". She said the government's failure to publish statutory guidance after a Supreme Court ruling on single-sex spaces was because ministers were "terrified of their MPs" who wanted “trans self-identification” across all of society.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission sent its guidance three months ago but it has still not been published. Bridget Phillipson, the women and equalities minister, has said that the delay is because the government is taking the time to “get this right". Falkner said: "We've had external counsel, internal counsel, everybody's looked at it. I mean, I'm so certain of the lawfulness of our code that I don't think I've ever been so certain about anything before.

Letting trans and non-binary just live our lives in peace and without harassment isn't going to turn everyone either trans or non-binary. This is just like the "gay panic" of the 80's/90's.

The ECHR draft guidance was so poor and illiterate they had to delete it.

I love having the basic accommodation for uni that I be sent the powerpoint slides before the tutorials, only for almost every tutor deciding last minute that I don’t actually need them.

I then get to spent the tutorial feeling very overwhelmed, unprepared and useless.

It's the weekend, baby

I love the convenience of streaming, but for any movie or show that I really love, I want to own a physical copy. The quality often better, and it is much less likely to disappear suddenly if a license expires or a company merges out of business. And disks often have cool extras.

AuDHD means my brain always wants a puzzle/problem to solve or it gets so bored and restless and this might be the number 1 thing ruining my life because I would just like to relax sometimes!!!

No… no you can’t, actually.

You’re just using your own “experience” and attaching it to your bias and prejudice about what you *think* ADHD and Autism “look like”.

ADHD & autism are five-to-ten times more prevalent in prisons vs the general population. Refusing to recognise, support & truly value neurodivergent people isn't just inhumane - it's fiscally ruinous. Kids struggle to focus, feel overwhelmed, we call them bad then lock them up. & it costs loads!

Every time a small sound scares me, I remember back to my autism assessment, when I said that I didn't get startled easily before nearly having a panic attack when my boiler made a slight noise when it clicked on lmao

"All is lost" narratives are popular because people generally do not want to take action. Taking action is tiring so if all is lost, you are off the hook. Nothing is more seductive than not having to do anything.

✅ What autism is:

- a processing difference
- a unique way of experiencing and interacting with the world
- a disability (for many, but not all)

❌ What autism is not:

- a mental illness
- a disease
- an excuse

Understanding autism means recognizing neurodiversity - not pathologising it ❤️
