A typical ChatGPT prompt apparently uses 0.3 Wh. So if you did 10 requests per minute (autocompletion, etc.) you would consume 180 W.

But research constantly improves LLMs' efficiency: smaller/optimized models (Gemma-2B, Mistral-7B...) claim to use as little as 0.0002 to 0.01 Wh per prompt...

ChatGPT serves 123 million daily users, as of the latest numbers - users who get information they need, get help for their work, save time on tasks, therefore get more productive...

(Meanwhile Bitcoin mining serves no productive purpose whatsoever).

The numbers are inconsistent: charging 8M mobile phones over a day requires 5 MW, while charging 332K EVs over a month requires 35 MW (7 times more) - so which is it?
