And if you're up for it, welcome back to the Empire.

We have comics to make.

There are more stories to be told, more adventures to pass on, more creators to help make those stories.

And I just took it for granted. I do that. I second-guess myself, let my doubts get the better of me, stifle my own creative self.

Well, enough of that.

I'm back.

But me being me, I started to doubt I was even needed anymore as the thing just took off.

And comics were made. CEMETERY PLOTS. ACTIONTHOLOGY.

Creators got published. Some moved on to other projects. Some just moved on.

And me being me, I felt guilty.

And I was ready to make my comic book Empire a reality somehow and posted about it.

And several answered the call. Dan Johnson, Dave Hearn, Andy Shaggy Korty, Eric Bowen and a many others came together here and ECL became a thing.

That was the start, for me, of what has become Empire Comics Lab.

After recording an episode of the Sketch Magazine podcast with my friends Robert W. Hickey and John Wilson, I was jazzed, my creative batteries were super-charged.

I remember what it was like to see a comic I had helped create. Sometimes I take that feeling for granted but then it surges back and I'm ready to make more stories. And not only that, but help other comics creators feel that sense of wonderful and accomplishment.

A tweet from the Democrats’ official account includes a chart titled “MATH” with a Republican elephant logo. The chart contrasts what Republicans “CAN AFFORD” versus what they “CAN’T AFFORD.” Can afford: $40B bailout for Argentina, Trump’s golden ballroom, Qatar jet upgrades, National Guard takeover. Can’t afford: Health care for Americans, children’s cancer research, SNAP/WIC benefits, and special education programs.

Their idea of “can’t afford it.”
