A fun thing about the Train Dreams movie is the little Jesus’ Son borrowings/references/easter eggs.

I was hopping a parcel yesterday and a kid on an e-scooter smashed into me. I dropped the parcel and yelled “Fuck!” The kid was very, very sorry and was ready to help me, and I guess, get yelled at. But I just said to “you’re good,” and waved him along. He was fully-padded, helmet and accountable.

it's like being followed around by a drowning hull dimly visible in deep water, something that slides across the daylight, grey-blue, purposeful, pointed and slow…

Three-year-old child forced to serve as her own attorney in Tucson immigration court
More than a dozen undocumented minors were forced to make their case in front of an immigration judge as the Trump administration ramps up removal proceedings.
There is no sight that more efficiently puts the lie to immigration “court” than the common sight of children “representing themselves.” Children too small to climb into the chair, children in pajamas who don’t know where they are, children not yet old enough to speak.

If you see this repost with your model of positive masculinity
Kind most of all, but also Caring, empathetic, and not afraid to meet people (especially children) at their own level. But overall, a practicer of extreme curiosity

LMFAO! Check out the popular (in) Canada satire comedy show (similar to Saturday Night Live in its heyday…on steroids.) For some unfathomable reason this show has yanked Felon47’s political satire savvy away from Kimball and Colbert! I wonder why? (I LOVE a little sarcasm in the mornings 😜)

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

Pete Hegseth’s Weak Excuses
His evasive responses to Signalgate are shameful nonsense.
"Hegseth’s responses are nothing more than sniveling from a man who is supposed to be a model for an organization built on bravery and competence. The secretary had a good teacher: Trump." @radiofreetom.bsky.social on the Signalgate IG report. 🎁 www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

What Children Know about Power
And why we should stop comparing tyrants to children
I wrote about this a few months ago.
Let’s look to childhood, not as a symbol of adults' most base instincts, but rather as a source of inspiration for our own curiosity, compassion, playful ingenuity, and even rebelliousness.

Wind
BY MIKE WHITE
Not a remarkable wind.
So when the bistro’s patio umbrella
blew suddenly free and pitched
into the middle of the road,
it put a stop to the afternoon.
Something white and amazing
was blocking the way.
A waiter in a clean apron
appeared, not quite
certain, shielding his eyes, wary
of our rumbling engines.
He knelt in the hot road,
making two figures in white, one
leaning over the sprawled,
broken shape of the other,
creaturely, great-winged,
and now so carefully gathered in.
“Something white and amazing was blocking the way.” A poem by Mike White.
