30.08.2025 08:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Being a long time Shuttleworth fan I noticed a change in the audience around the time he had a stronger Radio 4 presence (around the early 2000s). Solidly middle class, middle aged but not really getting it, (but of course he was on R4 so he must be worthy). Seems to have shed them now

26.06.2025 15:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0After learning that calls have been made for Kneecap to be censored during their Glastonbury set, I think itβs important that I make my own position clear. Iβve played Glastonbury many times and the festival has always had a political aspect. It was founded as a place of free expression and political activism and itβs a fact that I agreed to play there with The Smiths in 1984 purely because to do so at the time was a political act. We are living through very troubling times, but for anyone whoβs been interested in me or my music over the last 40 years, I feel like my political stance has always been very clear. Oppression fears artistic expression. I respect all musicians who use their platform to speak out against injustice, who promote compassion and equality and give voice to the voiceless. I stand with my audience and fellow musicians who call for an immediate end to the atrocities and a free Palestine. Johnny Marr

Section 28 didnβt come out of nowhere.
It came from a society where 75% thought homosexuality was wrong.
From a society that feared the sight of a man in drag would corrupt.
From a society that believed ignorance was better for children than any knowledge of gay lives.

If you don't like our trans inclusive stance, don't visit. It's not like you've been visiting anyway, keep that up.
17.04.2025 09:47 β π 1659 π 172 π¬ 8 π 19The explanation I always use for the success of anti-trans activism is that it's an easy way for men in power to get plaudits from people calling themselves feminists without doing anything that causes them to have to do any work, spend any money, or change whatsoever
