Maps show how the Bay Area has been unusually cold this summer As heat waves roast much of the West Coast, the Bay Area has been spared from extreme temperatures over the course of the last two months. It’s a unique trend.

San Francisco International Airport has measured its coldest first half of summer since 1965. The average maximum temperature at the airport was just 67.6°F through July 15.

Thirty-eight of the first 45 days this summer in San Jose have been cooler compared to the same time period in 2024.

Downtown San Francisco has seen one day over 70° F since June 1, mean temps are somewhere in the low 60s, lows match the sea surface temperatures 54F or so. One of the coldest June/Julys on record for SF. #CAwx
