I know that the vast majority of americans have terrible reading comprehension. We think we're speaking this clever little ironic language and most readers are just like "oh, big? uh-huh. beautiful? ok, got it." It's cognitive science. Read some George Lakoff.

Please stop calling it that. You use his language, you spread his propaganda. Call it something else.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

I spend paragraphs debunking ONE of her claims, with pdfs and links, and she responds with eight more wild unsubstantiated claims. I keep wanting to give up, but she IS reading and there are moments when the fog clears. Idk

I've been having a civil (but frustrating) politics discussion with my conservative aunt in my DMs (not this app) for about a month now, and it's the epitome of "a lie circles the globe three times while the truth is getting its boots on."

Shit like this really illustrates how lefties assume that people can read subtext and they broadly CANNOT. 50% of viewers will see this and think, "Cool Tesla ad."

A frustrating thing about teaching writing is that students who cheat (plagiarism or AI) end up getting much more of my time and attention, but deserve it less. It takes time away from students who struggle through the writing process on their own, as they should, and deserve more feedback from me.
