When I talk about how not only is it a beautiful thing to be warned about potential violence and how to keep yourself safe- but that all people should *expect* clear and detailed expectations of actions- this is what that looks like.

Let the Record Show: A Political History of ACT UP New York, 1987-1993 A Political History of ACT UP New York, 1987-1993

I’m not going to tell people how to feel about protests… at least not today.

Instead, I’ll recommend Sarah Schulman’s book about ACT UP. It’s not just a history of the organization; she also talks strategy in a very practical way, especially regard coalitions.

Brian Eno 2h. On the Arrest of Young People at a Quaker Meeting House Last night, six young people were arrested by police during a peaceful gathering at a Quaker Meeting House. They had assembled to talk, reflect, and organise around two issues of overwhelming moral gravity: the climate emergency, and the continuing destruction in Gaza. That the police chose to forcibly enter a Quaker space-a site known throughout history for its deep commitment to peace and nonviolenceβ€”is both alarming and telling. These young people were not disrupting the peace. They were enacting it. We live in a time where the greatest threats to our future go unchallenged by those in power, while those who speak out are increasingly met with suspicion, hostility, and force. When the state begins to treat moral concern as criminal intent, we should all be paying close attention. The people arrested last night were not extremists. They were citizens who care-young people who see the interconnected crises of climate collapse and human suffering and refuse to turn away. They gathered not in violent defiance, but in peaceful conscience. I stand with them. I believe their voices are not only valid, but vital. If the institutions meant to protect us cannot bear to hear these voices, then it is not the protesters who are disrupting orderβ€”it is the silence of those who look away. - Brian Eno

For decades, a doctor refused to charge patients who couldn't pay. When he couldn't pay, his patients came to his aid. When Dr. Michael Zollicoffer was diagnosed with two types of cancer, his patients started a crowdfunding campaign that raised more than $100,000.

A doctor has been serving one of Baltimore’s poorest neighborhoods for decades β€” and if his patients can’t pay, that’s OK with him.

So when he was diagnosed with cancer, his community rallied to raise $100,000 for his treatments.

Stop buying EVERYTHING except essentials. Until further notice. If you're serious about making companies pay attention, long term action is the only way. 1/4

People whose shopping data they already have, who fill and abandon, they'll pay more attention to. 3/

Not everyone can boycott places like Walmart, I know, I grew up in a super rural area. Research brands they carry that are the lesser of all evils if nothing else and buy those. The big brands will lose market share. They HATE to lose market share.
They'll scramble to figure out why and where it's going. 4/
