A new group of Associates (sounds better then Trainees, right?) attending a classroom session for the Greater Manchester RoSPA Advanced Drivers course. Our course features 3 theory evenings, and 8 practical driving sessions with our volunteer tutors, based around the Roadcraft advanced driving manual
Late August 2025, and we have 11 new Associates joining us to participate in the third of our 2025 Advanced Driving courses for Greater Manchester.
Our January 2026 course is already fully booked, so we are accepting bookings for our May 2026 RoSPA Advanced Drivers course now.

We enjoyed meeting the 11 people who are attending our May 2025 Advanced Drivers course last night. We launched the course with a get-to-know-you and theory evening at our base in Woodley, Greater Manchester.

Our September 2025 course is fully booked, but we are taking bookings for January 2026

As a road safety charity, we are run by a small group of volunteers. All our driving tutors undergo regular training, and here we have our group Chair Ian presenting an Advanced Tutor certificate to Stu, qualifying him to train our group tutors.

The people who come along for our Manchester advanced driver courses cover a very wide age range. The youngest driver on our current course is 18. And we heard today that someone from our autumn course passed his advanced driving test this week at the age of 80!

It says: Congratulations to Paul Kelly-Fursdon for passing his Advanced Car retest at Gold grade on Sat 18 January 2025 with examiner Roger Ware. Very well done Paul. What does Gold mean? A RoSPA Gold is the highest civilian driving standard available and the holder will operate at the highest level. Gold is only awarded to the driver who shows a consistently high standard of driving throughout the test. The driver will demonstrate a confidence in their ability together with a thorough understanding of the principles contained in Roadcraft and how to apply those principles to situations that occur during the test.
