Australia has so much solar that it's offering everyone free electricity Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

Kansas Republicans drop push to enter nation's widening redistricting battle Top Kansas Republicans have given up for now on forcing a special session of the Legislature to redraw the state’s U.S.

Kansas doesn't have the votes to redistrict, Sharice Davids' seat won't be touched.

That’s a fantastic comparison, because the reason they added lead to gasoline was just to increase convenience a tiny bit, and they’ve poisoned the world in the process.

The good news is: Impossible as it may seem, we banned it worldwide and its bad effects are now mostly gone.

Makes you think.

Saying that someone doesn’t deserve to be a senator isn’t canceling them, that is the public opinion candidates are subject to in a democracy.

I don’t know if there’s a more perfect illustration of the utter fucking nonsense that creative pollution by AI will produce than this choice to illustrate the power of Paramount’s new β€œlocalization” and β€œcustomization” technology by face-swapping Brad Pitt into the lead role of GET OUT

Historically there's been 3 outcomes from this situation (iirc): Entrenched autocracy, Pseudo-democracy (like Putin's Russia) wherein oligarchs exploit the compromised power structures, or military coup. Rebuilding is a distant fourth. Back to Normal has *never* happened.

I hate watching the US having actually read history and studied political science. I want to shake every American and tell them they can't vote their way back to normal. The institutions have been compromised, there is no going back.

Pantries and meal programs exist everywhere and this is where people who lose SNAP will turn. No need to reinvent the wheel. These organizations need money and volunteers.

I’m less concerned about part of the White House being torn down, and more concerned about the fact that it’s being replaced with a $250m privately funded ballroom. I don’t think people who intend to leave office in 3 years typically spend a quarter of a billon on a 4 year construction project.

To be candid, I want the bubble to burst. Because it will eventually and inevitably, but the longer the current charade goes on the more our planet and communities are decimatedβ€” and the more dependent we become on the few powerful people left who control those resources.

SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.
