Historically there's been 3 outcomes from this situation (iirc): Entrenched autocracy, Pseudo-democracy (like Putin's Russia) wherein oligarchs exploit the compromised power structures, or military coup. Rebuilding is a distant fourth. Back to Normal has *never* happened.

I hate watching the US having actually read history and studied political science. I want to shake every American and tell them they can't vote their way back to normal. The institutions have been compromised, there is no going back.
