Read This When Things Fall Apart by Kelly Hayes | Pilsen Community Books A bundle of letters to activists and organizers on the frontlines in catastrophic times from Let This Radicalize You co-author Kelly Hayes In social movements, some heartbreaks are all but inevitable.

My publisher’s been very patient. I’m not doing everything I said I’d do to promote this book (out in a few weeks) because I’m an organizer in a city under federal attack. My days are full and emotionally exhausting. Any help getting the word out means a lot. It's a book people need right now.

NIH pulled off a ‘near miracle.’ Scientists say there’s still a problem. The National Institutes of Health is on track to give away all of its grant money to labs, but research on cancer, aging and diabetes is still being left behind.

The round-the clock work of officials inside NIH helped put the agency on track to get all of its grant money out to labs across the country, the majority of its nearly $48 billion budget.

It was a feat that earlier this year seemed nearly impossible.

Faceted plot with panels for Atlanta, Pittsbrugh, and Houston. Focal counties (Dekalb, Alleghany, and Houston) are outlined. Surrounding counties are shaded by future estimated annual economic loss due to the proposed cap on indirect costs based on commuter flows that connect to a focal county (indicated by light pink outline).
