Some people suggest that host resistance to leprosy have lead to the rapid decline in leprosy. Additionally, divergent HLA patterns of patients with psoriasis and leprosy have also been observed. So maybe psoriasis-associated genotypes were selected for because they can resist leprosy?

I read today that 95% of humans are naturally immune to leprosy. I was surprised by this given the historical reference to the diseaseβit suggests that itβs not just improvements in sanitation, etc that have lead to the decline of the disease. Apparently, psoriasis is rarely observed with leprosy.

Iβm EC, and I study the ecology and evolution of viruses. My lab looks at how viruses adapt to their host in changing environments. Our focus is on phage in the lab but broader for computational work. Would very much like to be considered for your seminar series.

Yes, but thereβs tons of hits that arenβt very relevant. What I liked about the Web of Science search was that there was far less chaff. But I was concerned that it missed some relevant articles. I had some in mind that I wanted to include but couldnβt find the right search terms to get.

Several years ago I performed a meta-analysis. I (mostly) found the papers using a Boolean statement in Web of Science. Iβm interested in doing a similar search. How do folks recommend that I do this now? What are your favorite tools to do targeted and systematic literature searches these days?
