i'm fine with smarter devices if they were actually smart or filling a more purposeful niche - something actually educational, that furthers our knowledge in medicine, archiving, social needs. for a while it felt like it was on the path to something like that.

it's hard not to be a luddite, but when someone with more power and money has something to gain from this tech it's difficult not to be skeptical

i hope somethin that gets mentioned in history books is how we were convinced to allow spying hardware (smart devices) into our phones, homes, and offices. that the journey to police this nation was relatively easy bc the population was duped to believe the devices would make our daily lives easier.
