Saw a snow plow stuck on the side of the road today. Who’s supposed to rescue him

It’s the most ridiculous thing that the government isn’t supposed to search without a particularized warrant BUT we allow corporations to access information about ourselves that we don’t even know and just hand that to whomever, whenever, warrant-free. You seriously think the Founders wanted *that*?

Theoretically, yes

Skunk cabbage

Because it is soon, it has a private and quiet
spring. Before the birds come, before
another leaf or flower, it flowers; and bees
come there and enter and leave, thick
with pollen. Foetid, even in the thin chill
of a wintry spring, it stinks of livingness,
rawness. Its color also is of skin
rubbed raw by wind, by cold, by sun,
and the flesh showing through. It is the flesh
responding to warmth, to sun, to the first spring.
It looks like tenderness, the way it curves
upward and beaks over to cover within.

I’ve found it, the perfect allegory for (or, perhaps more defensibly, a perfect analogue to) A.i.

A fake diagram that's a complete mess of nonsense. There's nothing really to digest from it, except the center which says "The nexus of uncertainty"

Divide the half into two parts, adding the half to the other half

I keep thinking this looks like a simple-enough recipe, but then I look closer and quickly lose count of how many halves (of halves (of halves?)) we’re supposed to be working with

6yo: Mommy, you’ve had this for like 200 years

Wife: I have not had it for 200 years. I think someone bought it in the '70s

6yo (thoughtful): In the ‘70s, the Beatles were still together

Would people stop talking about being on a path toward technofeudalism? We’re there. The thing ahead is feudalism.

It's unchartered, but we can see the terrain: the territory ahead includes masked secret police taking people to concentration camps but not new vaccines. That's our reward for a system in which fewer than 20 people, all of them deranged and malicious, control over $3 trillion.
