It re-motivates me to keep working to protect all lives as sacred. To quote the HolyQuran from my faith: ”Whoever saves a life it is as though he had saved the lives of all mankind.” Or from Judaism, “Whoever saves a single life is considered by scripture to have saved the world.”

I also began to ponder the untold number of lives lost in natural and violent contexts at home and worldwide, and particularly about those who have not been able to give their loved ones dignified burials. 2/3

I was recently honored to participate in the ritual washing of the body of the father of a Muslim friend just prior to his burial. Lifting & washing him I was moved beyond words. As i walked in the woods the next day i further reflected on our common humanity... (1/3)
