The foil has a tiny cross-sectional area (A), maybe 4mm^2, about 5cm long (L), resistivity (ρ) of 2.5e-8 => 2e-4 Ohms

Battery I measured at 1.35V => gives us about 5000 A

I was trying to fix the contacts in my #electric toothbrush and stuck in some aluminum foil. I came back a few minutes later and it was super hot- I had connected the #battery terminals together by accident 😅

I know from Ohms law V=IR so if resistance (R) goes to zero #current (I) goes to infinity…

I feel like I’m losing my mind reading this- did they not analyze the assessment levels (i.e. change in “fine” or “disqualified” students) from figure 4a? Just intuitively that seems like a much more robust result than average score anyway

This is pretty astonishing. Usually when trying to make a claim with a negative result, the authors will at the very least temper their language and say the results are “suggestive” of some trend. It’s debatable whether that may be worthwhile, but this seems outright bizarre.
