Painted by Alexander Roslin, (1718-1793), c. 1754. There are many theories about who these folks are, none confirmed. One is that this is Madame de Pompadour & her brother Abel-François Poisson de Vandières which seems unlikely. Several portraits of Pompadour have a different face than this woman.
