Here's a chart to chew on: white-collar workers say that AI saves them little or no time, but executives think it's a massive timesaver. This divide between employees and management is going to influence the future of the workforce.

โOne notable MIT study found that 95 percent of companies that integrated AI saw zero meaningful growth in revenue. For coding tasks, one of AIโs most widely hyped applications, another study showed that programmers who used AI coding tools actually became slower at their jobs.โ

Screenshot: serialephemera Thematically speaking, the most important thing Terry Pratchett taught me was the concept of militant decency. The idea that you can look at the world and its flaws and its injustices and its cruelties and get deeply, intensely angry, and that you can turn that into energy for doing the right thing and making the world a better place. He taught me that the anger itself is not the part! should be fighting. Nobody in my life ever said that before.
This is a good lesson, no matter how you come to learn it

Remember: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.
The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.
The other thing about normalizing gAI use in higher ed is that we are teaching our students that they cannot trust their own creativity, their own thoughts and brains, their own skills without having it reshaped/shellacked/transmogrified by LLMs. Weโre setting them up for failure and dependence.
