Pragmatic politics by the grown ups in the room. Brilliant enhancement of workers rights in the new year.

Good news that they had a surplus and now have a ยฃ21 billion buffer, the bond markets are subdued, cost of borrowing going down. The communications of this good news has been poorly handed.

This is very, very good.

Whoever put this together needs to be put in charge of Labour (or Green or LibDem) comms for the next GE to keep Farage out.

Wow, I am underwhelmed.

Rubbish

Check out increases to the minimum wage, also increases in wages above inflation in both private and public sectors. Check out increases to workers rights. I understand that people are struggling but the government is trying to help in a difficult economic environment.

Owen Jones has attacked Labour consistently for a few years now. He frequently says what he is against but infrequently states positive things he would do.

I like the Labour legislation that is enhancing workers rights. Also like Labour's green policies. I think they are very different from Tory and Reform policies as both these parties are anti workers rights and the green agenda.

Did you join because you were impressed by Corbyn's organising skill, making decisions and working with other prospective leaders in the party?

I expect you want your personal taxes to go up to pay for more health spending.

Have they paid a membership fee? What is the subscription for the party?

He travelled to see the match last night, the deputy female prime minister hosting an event for the lionesses at Downing Street tonight. It's called teamwork.

Tories were awful, they left the country in a mess that Labour is slowly but surely clearing up. People want simple answers to complex problems. They don't live in the real world, Truss and Johnson make promises they couldn't keep. Other populists like Farage and Corbyn are doing the same.

I think the Greens will suffer with a Corbyn " led" party. Lots of left discontented voters will switch from Green to Corbyn. Labour also takes a knock, Tories will make a minor increase and Reform current high vote will decrease. Lib Dems will stay as they are, not sure about PC and SNP. Messy.

Please give your suggestions, giving some figures.

I grew up in a council house, went to a comprehensive school, further education - full grant. Dad, worked as a painter and decorator for Bristol Council. Life,ok for my family when I was growing up. Tory governments- social housing decimated, NHS squeezed, youth clubs closed, state ed. suffered cuts

I think he became a Labour Party member as a teenager. I grew up on the Hartcliffe estate in Bristol, most of my family live there, they are sadly Reform voters, they believed in Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage and Brexit. Schooled by the Sun for many years. Hard right wing Conservatives.

He has written a positive message about Labour for a long time. A typical comment written to gain attention.

Sadly, the Reform vote has increased substantially in Scotland and that could make an impact on certain seats. I still think the SNP 41% figure is too high. Time will tell.

18.06.2025 07:13 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

41% a very high figure for the SNP, I think a 31% would be a more realistic figure. Due to the small majorities in a number of seats, lots of seats could go to a number of different parties.

He has promised lots of things since the last election, no cost to the promises, easy politics when in opposition.

15.06.2025 09:06 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I expect you could be a fan of Liz Truss. Nevermind, it is the policies that are important not the personalities.

They were protesting about austerity, check out the Labour 2024 budget. Lots of increases in public spending due to increases in taxation. Lots of public workers received good increases in the wages, doctors, teachers and armed services personnel. Facts are important better than loose slogans.

09.06.2025 14:07 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Austerity means spending less money. Since Labour has been elected has it spent less money than the last Tory government. The answer is no, in its last 2024 budget increased government spending substantially.

08.06.2025 06:15 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It would give him more time to explain how he is going to fund his policies. Easy oppositional politics for the Lib Dems at the moment. Remember the change in policy the Lib Dems made on student fees when they went into government with the Tories. They wouldn't want a reply to that policy U-turn.

Things change. Greens having a difficult time in running Bristol City Council, Green MP stepping down from the leadership of party to concentrate on keeping her seat. Greens were 3rd in the recent mayoral election. Budget and policies will need to be carefully scrutinized prior to the GE in 2029.
