I'd add that I can't find the dataset used anywhere on the FIRE website. Is it possible they've taken it down in the light of the way it has been used by Kaufmann.

Meanwhile, the Unherd article and accompanying 35 min video are still up at unherd, and the Daily Mail has covered it.

Ah, I hadn't spotted this. That explains it then.

Weird thing here is that in the actual article Rentoul avoids conflation of Israeli football supporter and Jewish football supporter, and its the headline that does that, but then he goes and tweets it anyway......

Absolutely, a causal explanation Kaufmann studiously ignores in his report in favour it's all because of the decline of woke, but as you say I think the data may be total bollox as well, if it exists.

Why are fewer young people identifying as trans? A surprising shift is taking place in the gender and sexual identities of young Americans. Data from my new Centre for Heterodox Social Science report, β€œThe Decline of Trans and Queer Identity among Y...

This new report is doing the rounds in RW press, but I can't find the actual survey data of 60,000 US students anywhere. The link in the 2nd para of this piece by Eric Kaufmann goes to s'thing else by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression.

Jane neatly summarises one of the two key issues with Find Oout Now's polling methodology (the other being that the sample is taken from a people playing a free prize draw).

Novara have done the decimal points, presumably from the 'squeeze' table and have declared them ahead.

There's a new poll out showing Greens ahead of Labour.

Anyway, it's a Find Out Now poll, with its interesting panel 'selection' methodology and it's interesting voter squeeze prompts.

@cjayanetti.bsky.social will be amused.

The Greens will make the most of it

In the poll 34% of people don't know

ok ta. I did write on this specific issue in August 2024 and got reply to say their powers were not yet in force etc., so I'll simply forward the original and ask for update.

Are these tweets still up, Sunder (I don't have an account)? If so, I'll write to Ofcom again.

Not Ofcom's job to do the timetable of course, as that's a Statutory Instrument, but likely it was consulted.

Anyway, need to re-action my letter to Ofcom from last year about illegal content on Twitter.

4Chan fined by Ofcom for ignoring requests for online safety information The online forum has been fined Β£20,000 by the watchdog for breaching its information requests.

I had thought the duties on illegal content were to come into force on Nov 3rd, but it looks like Ofcom drew their timetable forward at some point and made it July 25th.

Hate campaign blamed for golf resort sabotage One of Britain’s best-known woman golfers says she is the victim of a hate campaign by vandals who have cost her business more than Β£1.4 million.Fourteen greens

It does maybe possibly just about arguably call into question who actually had access to the now banned herbicide used to vandalize the golf course, apparently between 1988 and 2017 www.thetimes.com/business-mon...

Probably a positive overall.

Interesting that EHRC says the new code should be used when it is approved by parliament, rather than if (bottom bullet point). An organisation answering to parliament shouldn't really say that, but I think it's probably not just careless wording.

I've established that a more MMT supporting motion was defeated at conference, so this apparently isn't total MMT but something of a Keynesian fudge, I guess. But I still don't really know how the Greens would judge the fiscal space and how this relates to having a fiat currency.

Blimey, clear up continues and I find myself described in the liberal American press, in 1991 as a "big, gentle English gentleman with closely cropped red hair". Anyway, Jahanara survived. She'll be 50 now. Not been in the liberal American press since then. Does it still exist?

Tbf I think that's to do with the protest letter, not the EHRC one, though it's still silly.

In this Q from today, the shadow Energy Secretary manages both to confuse energy generation infrastructure and energy transmission infrastucture and apparently remain ignorant that, for example, 35% of Electricity North West i.e. the grid has been owned by Chinese state companies since 2019.

Jokes about Reform voters aside, is there actually an A level standard for speaking and listening to English i.e. is there an oral exam?

3/ So logically either the MP source is just talking bollox, or doesn't know the rules, or I don't know the rules (possible) or the source in just made up by the newspaper.

2/ It's the suggestion from a MP source that they can't vote for Phillipson without losing LGBTQ+ votes.

But unless I'm missing something, MPs only get one vote in the OMOV election anyway, by secret ballot, so there's no need for anyone to know how individuals vote.

I think today is the day, with parliament back at work, when the Minister may present it (and us) with the EHRC post-Supreme Court draft Code of Conduct.

If it's not published, then I'll get to wondering what internal govt wranglings are going on.
