Lower numbers are a relative metric. People get stuck on the overall number when traditional viewership is dwindling across the board (unless you're discussing the NFL). While a fan shouldn't care either way, where the show places during its slot/night is a much better indicator.

For me...

Kenny Omega(c) v. Bryan Danielson at the first Grand Slam. The two very best of their generation. 20K losing their goddamn minds before they even lock up. Broadway match.

The Young Bucks regularly hit a stomp off the ropes into a powerbomb. It's also something Styles did with them in New Japan. It's a cool move, but nothing groundbreaking.

What's truly great is that there's something for everyone if you're a pro-wrestling fan. It's a golden era from that perspective.

And that's a great discussion to have, because every promotion has its faults.

We could discuss New Japan right now & it's tradition of great wrestling. Yet the promotion has really struggled to transition & build new stars.

Right now, CMLL is probably the world's hottest company.

It doesn't for me. That's the point I'm trying to make. I find WWE's storytelling to be hackneyed and mostly boring. It doesn't draw me in, especially when most matches don't provide a great payoff.

Love a lot of wrestlers there. It's just not the style I prefer.

Conversely, I can't stand WWE's force-feeding of stories, marginal in-ring work & overreliance on "creating moments" (not even mentioning business side).

I've always preferred athletic aspect, hence why I gravitated toward ROH/New Japan/AEW.

But I understand why people enjoy & follow WWE.

I think we've had a solid conversation and I've been a fan before the promotion officially started. It's all a matter of perspective and being option to discussing points that you may not agree with.

Personally, I quite enjoy Okada/Takeshita a lot. I loved Hangman's journey to become champ again. Think what KOR did against Mox in a short amount of time was good. Etc.

Honestly, you're all over the place. I can understand not enjoying a product or it not being to your taste. But I think you've been continually off-base regarding the arguments you've presented and then quickly pivoted when someone responds with an answer.

I'd argue AEW has had a strong year.

At minimum, it's been better than last two--we all know the extenuating circumstances.

It hasn't been perfect. But a lack of drama internally, strong PPV contributions & more consistent week-to-week production definitely has it trending upward comparatively.

That's perfectly fine. I'm not saying to agree & enjoy everything AEW does. No one should.

Booking concerns are different than your original comment.

Literally, each example you just provided had storylines leading into them.

For example, Mox specifically stated he "won" the match against KOR because the latter came out injured.

Booking isn't always perfect, but their is purpose.

I couldn't care less how bad the Cleveland Browns have been this season. There's no one in the league on Garrett's level right now (and most days).
