Not being allowed to hand water to people in line to vote no matter who they are voting for, while being allowed to hand people million dollar checks to get their vote, is the most American thing ever.

It’s not just the tariffs that are going to wreck the US economy. There will be product boycotts as well as a decline in tourism and conferences held in the US because people have other options and won’t risk this stuff. The US is internationally viewed as a dysfunctional country (as it is).

1. Tuesday night, the Republican majority of the House passed a budget resolution that would, if it later becomes law, take nearly a trillion dollars away from Medicaid over 10 years in order to cut taxes for the very obscenely rich.

If Trump and Musk and MAGA thought there would ever be free and fair elections again in the US they would not pursue the anti-people, anti-American, dangerous, destructive policies they pursue.

I wonder how many people are waiting for the Musk/Trump administration to go too far, in the hope that some higher authority will step in to check them. Who, I wonder, do they see as that higher authority? Daily tracking polls? The Supreme Court? The military? Non-MAGA billionaires? The media?

We are “on the precipice,” Maddow said, “looking over the edge.”

We’re not, though. We’re already over the edge, and we will never find our way back to liberal democracy if we do not accept that reality.
