Join us at our reading circle during the next library (Sat 13th) to discuss a text by the Workers Solidarity Movement on fascism, and the latest Red Flare report!

No need to read anything in advance, we'll read together! But the text is linked in our bio if you'd like to have a look beforehand 🐞

Text reads: WE PROTECT EACH OTHER. Keep safe, keep together, and look out for each other. Arrive together, leave together. On your own, you're much more vulnerable. If you can, plan to come with a group. If you see someone leaving alone, consider offering to go with them. Act in Solidarity. You may not agree with everyone there, but we're on the same side. If you have criticisms, consider bringing them up in a less charged context.

Text reads: The far right can and do doxx and target people. Do what you can to stay safe. Wear a mask. A mask doesn't just help protect your identity, but it also helps prevent the spread of Covid! Stay anonymous. If you have tattoos/hairstyles/piercings that could be used to identify you, are there ways you can cover them? Leave unique accessories and clothes at home - dress neutrally. Be careful with photos. Don't do fascists' work for them! Exclude or block out faces or identifying features before you share photos of your fellow protestors. We protect ourselves.

"No comment" You only have to give your name, address, date and place of birth, and nationality if you're under arrest, suspected of committing/witnessing a crime, or you're driving. Otherwise, DO NOT TALK TO POLICE. They are as likely to arrest or attack you as they are the far right. "Under what power?" His preface draws connections between the role of prisons in different contexts as well as the position of the political prisoners in liberation struggles from Ireland to the USA to France to Palestine.

To contextualise his letter, we''ll also read Ahmad Sa'adat's preface to the french language edition of Huey Newton's Revolutionary suicide. Sa'adat is the general secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and is currently imprisoned by Israel in Ramon prison

Abdallah has remained steadfast in his support for Palestinian liberation and struggle against imperialism for which he was jailed over 40 years ago. And in this letter he address the yearly solidarity march calling for his release, speaking on his own conditions as a prisoner.

In honor of the release of Europe's longest incarcerated political prisoner, the Lebanese marxist Georges Abdallah, we will be reading a letter of his written from prison in October 2024 for our next reading circle (Saturday 2nd August).
