Here's the first page of Lob Barleycorn- a weird folk strip written by @bardicacademic.bsky.social and drawn by me.
Have a look if you like #comics and show it to someone else that does as well?
Just saw this movie and thought it wonderful. Need to mull it over but themes touched on memory, dreams, nostalgia (bad kind), and humanity's situation with those things.
Imagine Inception with the inventiveness of Gondry, and some of the magic of The Wizard of Speed & Time.

80s spine-back zoid. At some point I gave him the red cockpit.

I always thought they had a sort of friendliness to them. True of many of the little clockwork zoids.
Photograph of a modified Slither/Molga Zoid.
Here's a customised ZOID I made, oh, twenty years ago. I was inspired by scene in #Naussica to imagine a zoid that had been out too long in some alien fungi world.
I always loved the way they shot the models for the box art in the 80s, and tired to reproduce that look here.

Earlier I dismantled him to check the general insides and clean him up. The motor unit can actually be opened up, and there's no damage inside it, just to the battery tabs. I think I may be able to swap them out... A project for a rainy day.
16.07.2025 01:09 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0For sure- I have quite a few that still work. And tbh I think finding a replacement on ebay might be straightforward as there's bound to be incomplete zoids with compatible motors knocking about.
15.07.2025 21:10 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I'd have to count them as they've lived stored away for the last 15 years, but maybe 5-10?
I have a spider zoid from the first run where they were black and grey, although the back two legs are red (must have lost em) and the little motor has given out now.
I have many from the late 90s and 2000s that I bought whilst at uni for the fun of building. But my original 80s ones are special to me. Gutted this guy will move no more, it's otherwise perfect with original transfers etc still intact.

Idk if anyone likes #zoids but here's my vintage Red Scavenger. I've had him since the late 80s or early 90s.
Decided to get him out of storage for a reminisce, and gutted to find that a past bit of corrosion has now destroyed the battery contacts :(
So nice. Reminds me of some of Syd Mead's larger scale stuff.

I just quote interested parties based on what they are going to use it for- small or non-profit stuff I'll probably grant them a licence for nowt.
Thoroughly appreciated Curtis' latest offering #SHIFTY. Has all the usual tropes one might expect from him, but I like the move to no voice-over, and the conclusion is very self-reflexive and strong.

First world problem and all, but it irks when I'm watching a foreign language movie on Amazon and the only Eng subs are the closed captions ones.
Great they exist, obviously.
why is the book killing the guy?
