It replaced a 15” MBP for engineering work as it would panic when using Docker quite frequently (6yo at the time). That one still gets used for photography work due to aged Lightroom application.

Wife went from a 11yo MBP 13” to a MBA this time. The modern airs are phenomenal compared to their predecessors for the average punter’s needs.

Meanwhile my 5yo 13” MBP needs some battery love. It gets a lot of overuse for work and it’s definitely tired.

We specced out similar performing laptops previously and there are some vendors who are cheaper but the big well supported ones were actually coming in above the MBP (let alone MBA) pricing.
