Hi all, I’m a bit late to the party so if you’d like to connect please do so. Hopefully I can build a similarly erudite community to the one I had on Twitter! πŸ™ŒπŸ» πŸ€—πŸ’•

Enjoyed this, thanks! Really useful reminder of possible barriers to accessing challenging texts and how what the teacher does with the text, and how it is presented, is so important.

You can freeze sandwiches. Some work better than others. Make a load and voila! Take one out the freezer each morning and it’s defrosted by lunchtime. Also, you can do porridge in a slow cooker overnight and have it for breakfast so can last all morning without feeling hungry.

Still use the terms content and provenance when using sources/ interpretations- at KS3 and GCSE.

Have you just changed from Edexcel to OCR by any chance?

Time team did a documentary on the secret of Lincoln jail which is useful in tracing the prison at the castle over time - it’s available on YouTube. KSHS in Sleaford do Lincoln castle as a site study and they did have some resources on their website, but not sure if this is still the case.

I’m guessing that you provided guidance along the way, and clearly they were out of sight but not out of mind for you as their History teacher. That is so important- and it’s not universal, so well done to you too

Thanks Pete! I’ll have to see if I can adapt this for our students- really useful 😊
