My novel about two birth mothers and what happens to them after they lose their children to adoption is out soon. Are you still a mother if you no longer have your child? The Mother’s Story is a love letter to belonging.

So I would like to see this charity put to task about what reparations they have made to the folk whose priceless letters they have destroyed. Say… a column entry that denotes reparations due if the adoptee comes searching. Or was it that casual they don’t even know whose letters were destroyed?

Most ‘custodian’ organisations seem to do this or have done this and that a whole board approved it is horrifying. Oh. Shall I just erase your mother and her letters too then? No. I didn’t think so.

The fine should never have been reduced. How casually our records are treated by others who decide to trample on our basic rights.

They then claimed my whole birth file was destroyed in a fire (it wasn’t). Diagrama fifty years later also claimed it was ‘lost’ until I suggested this was a breach of their duty at which point it was magically found. More than sixty years to get the basics ie name at birth, mother’s intentions

The fine should never have been reduced. This is more egregious than it may seem to people who are not adopted. The Catholic Adoption Society are also guilty of this- letters from my mother written in the year after she tried to keep me but wasn’t able to were destroyed. 1/2

Films like that makes me so sad and melancholy. All these years and 25 years representing birth mothers, articles written etc and still no one gets it. I’ve written a novel soon to be released which is about two birth mothers.

I have watched it after seeing your link. It builds to where you think & hope he will search/find his mother with other painful stories of coerced mothers and then without warning ends with a photo of his adopted family. Gah!!! So the mother is (yet again) erased. 💔

It’s plainly not though is it? It’s god’s house…and/or they do t own the property they live in but are tenants rent free. Also, what’s with the dressing gown appearance? Does the man have no integrity, values, kindness?

One element of the political policing intimidation attempt is over. We played a historic set at Glastonbury. Whole area closed an hour before due to crowds. A celebration of love and solidarity. A sea of good people at the world's most famous festival. Shortly afterwards we learn of an active police investigation. An investigation that followed after the Prime Minister himself said it "was not appropriate" we played Glastonbury. Walk off stage to the rapturous sounds of good people and into the creaking scheming sounds of the establishment.

This "investigation" was reported across the world's media often with wildly misleading headlines. Every single person who saw our set knew no law was broken, not even close....yet the police saw fit to publicly announce they were opening an investigation. Why open and publicise an investigation into fuck all? This is political. This is targetted. This is state intimidation.

After the media damage is inflicted and seen by millions of eyes - you receive a private email to say there's no evidence and no action - that is seen by two people only. There is no public apology, they don't send this to media or post it on police accounts. We will continue to fight. We will continue to win.
