Excuse me, it's actually Doctor.
That's correct. Doctor Frankenstein's monster.
Sad but so true

A tweet from Donald Trump that reads βDonβt worry about China, it will all be fine! Highly respected President Xi just had a bad moment. He doesnβt want Depression for his country, and neither do I. The U.S.A. wants to help China, not hurt it!!! President DJTβ

11.10.2025 11:46 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0The last movie I saw in theaters was OBAA. Today's docket is A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE followed by IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT. Such a slate feels very fitting of our relentlessly and cruelly political time

Colin Farrell remains incredibleβIs he doing the best work of any actor in recent years?

24.09.2025 15:52 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Got behind on writing / posting reviews while moving to Edinburgh, so going to try and catch up here. Some newer stuff, but mostly movies I've watched for my program.
First up: Highest 2 Lowest, which has some strong scenes, but is a bit too smooth for either Lee or the lineage of High and Low
King Vidor's The Fountainhead is a challenge to process, "an impressive work of filmmaking built upon a shoddy foundation... [it] makes bedfellows with its poisonous ideas. When it comes down to it, Howard Roark is nothing except an economic ubermensch. Raskolnikov, if he were an innate capitalist."
22.09.2025 12:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The Killing of a Sacred Deer is Lanthimos on the precipice: "Thereβs still substance and tragedy... but it arrives unfinished. Perhaps thereβs even a fear of what the act of finishing, of following through on the ultimatum, would mean."
22.09.2025 12:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Orson Welles' adaptation of The Trial is mesmerizing. "The production and set design of The Trial are astounding and confounding in equal measures... To demand justice within this world is to accept it on this worldβs terms."
