I have yet to meet a Chairman of the Appropriations Committee who is anxious to cede his or her authority to the Executive Branch.

My thought: Trump is pissed that Rick Scott is passed over for Majority Leader. Gotta punish the Senate & give Gaetz a reason to step down. Appoint Gaetz AG to piss off mainline Senate. Ultimately DeSantis appoints buddy Gaetz to Senate seat.
