Ah, okay! Yes, I am doing fairly well. A bit better than before I started dialysis, s it seems to be working. It’s just a bit stressful with all the new appointments now. How are you?

It’s the same with us, really. The funeral brought us closer to some people we hadn’t seen in a long time, though, so I hope we can keep in touch more than before.

Hello! I haven’t been on social media much because a lot has been happening. I am starting dialysis on Monday and had surgery for it a few weeks ago. There was so much to organise and get to grips with emotionally as well. But I am doing well and no longer as overwhelmed.

Any chance of things calming down?

It’s daunting, but it was inevitable. I don’t like how things will change because it will restrict me a little bit in some ways, but then again it’s going to keep me alive.

I’ve held out 6 years longer than expected, but now I will be starting dialysis within the next4 weeks. This means some minor surgery beforehand and a few changes at home as I will be doing this at home.

Let’s hope I get a new kidney soon!

Seeing an awful lot of people sick with Covid right now.

Many saying “Covid is back”.

It never left. That’s why some of us are still advocating for mitigations.

Every infection is a dice roll with disability.

Wear a mask. Clean the air. Stay home when sick.

If only we had proportional representation! That needs fixing.

Yes, I was o ly able to take part in local elections before. Now, I have full voting rights, which was one of the reasons I always wanted citizenship.

Thank you, it is a strange feeling at the moment. Lots of emotions (a tiny bit of resentment since Brexit), and I wonder how/if anything changes in my life as a result.

There’s a special kind of grief that chronically ill and disabled folks know of watching huge parts of life pass by while your body, try as it might, simply hurts too much or is too exhausted or dysregulated to do a single thing except try to stay alive from one moment to the next.
