Sir John Curtice, the veteran UK polling expert, said recently, β€œWe are in a world of five-party fragmentation."

In Europe this is common.

But UK still has "First past the Post" elections.

So in a 5-party split, elections are random and a party could win 100% of the power with roughly 25% votes.

An ICE Marching Song

"Do as WE say, 'cos we're ICE!"

"WE'LL ARREST YOU IN A TRICE!"

"We are tough and we don't care!"

"WHAT YOUR PAPERS ARE OR WERE!"

"Move, you fat Latino shit"

"RAISE YOUR HANDS OR YOU'LL BE HIT!"

"Shut your mouth, get through that door!"

"YOU'RE ON YOUR WAY TO SALVADOR!"

After recent electoral successes, are the Democrats going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by capitulating?

Are they going to agree to Trump's cuts to Medicaid, to SNAP, to nursing home standards - just to avoid air travel disruption at Thanksgiving?

Have they been bought out by tax cuts?

I would not not seek a secular society.... but certainly we need a secular state under which all would be free to adopt their form of religious observance provided that that is compatible with the law of the land and within which no religious group has any privileges.

The bear and the bot farm: Countering Russian hybrid warfare in Africa Russia has many quiet enemies in Africa. Working together, like-minded Africans and Europeans can roll back its troublesome influence.

Elon Musk's financial package is $1,000,000,000,000 over 10 years, i.e. $100,000,000,000 a year.
Tesla car sales are about 1,800,000 a year.
So Musk's salary per car sold = about $55,500.
Therefore if Tesla didn't pay Musk his $trillion, it could give the cars away & still make a tiny profit!
Right?

Oh, more than just them, surely? And I believe that, though it may be still several years away, it will happen.

The remembrance ceremony at the cenotaph

The remembrance ceremony at the cenotaph

Remembrance is an opportunity not just to honour the lives lost to war, whether brave combatants or civilian victims. It is also a chance to recommit to the cause of peace and freedom in the hope that one day war will be no more.

BBC β€˜100% fake news’, says Donald Trump’s press secretary

The irony meter just broke.

The BBC isn't perfect, but it's one of the few things standing between our British values and a Trump-style takeover of our politics.

Remember: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.

The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.

1 $Trillion for Elon? Over next 10 yrs?
It's a stunt!
He gets stock options (not cash) IF share price increases 6-fold by 2035 & IF Tesla delivers 20 million vehicles, 10 million robotaxis, 1 million humanoid robots + hitting high operating profits.
Are Tesla investors safe? The optics look v bad.

Trump has made 2 serious mistakes with his murderous attacks on boats in the Gulf of Mexico and now by threatening to launch a Bay of Pigs style attack on Venezuelan territory.

The Russians can now pose as defenders of the S Americans and are setting up arms manufacture and missile supplies to V.

The US is the world's largest oil and gas producer. Yet, "China is now making more money from exporting green technology than America makes from exporting fossil fuels."

Naa. "Remember, Man, that thou art dust and into dust thou shalt return." From Roman Catholic ritual for Ash Wednesday. Check it out with JDV.
With Trump looking thoughtful, and a man collapsed just behind him, I just thought it might have been appropriate.
I don't see Trump lasting another 3 years.

The main reason why millions of working people have to claim benefits from the government is because their wages & salaries are TOO LOW.

The second reason is that shareholders, owners & directors of the companies that employ them are being paid TOO MUCH

The third reason is that rents are TOO HIGH

Yet rightfully he still has only ONE VOTE.
Don't sell YOUR VOTE to him - for any price.
Leave him with his democratic right - to just that one vote of his.
You keep yours to use as you so choose!

Notable in today's YouGov that the centre/left bloc - Lab/Green/LD/SNP are on 54%. With Reform/Tories on 43%. That's the biggest differential in a long time.

I think useful to track blocs given instability between parties at the moment.
