Game Worker Solidarity Preserving and analysing the history of game worker solidarity

Re the current #gcap keynote's brief discussion of the history of game worker organisation, folks might be interested in the Game Worker Solidarity project, which maps game worker organisation activities historically and globally: gameworkersolidarity.com

i recently got a great deal on a barely used folding ebike and i have to say it has revolutionized my train travel. i can get from my front door to the amtrak station in a little less than 5 minutes!!!

His main issue is that conservative news sources aren't considered reliable for verifying info. Maybe they should become better at being reliable, mate.

no, I don't. I think it's much heathier to think of authors intertwining and interpolating their influences than as pure fonts of originality.

this is not what I want. I want semantic search so I can make a playlist of every song about bicycles.

I have a book on Assassin’s Creed coming out and I would like to be on your podcast / show / stream to promote it!

all texts that come out of LLMs have communicative intent formed by evolution tho. because the works they extracted principles from, the design by the programmers, the prompters all had that. it automates *something* but not communicative intent, surely?

07.10.2025 04:29 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

but the programmers who make the algo are part authors of its output, and so are the prompters, and so are those whose works were extracted into principles by the algo

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

I think this is why formats with multiple critics work well

our era focuses a lot on the way patriarchy forces women into sex and sexual behaviour, and a lot less on how it constrains women's libido

06.10.2025 20:35 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

in the middle ages women were considered the hornier sex and the initiators! there was a joke that said something like "women are always up for it because they don't have to get up for it" which is an excellent boner joke

Increasingly thinking The Life of A Showgirl should have been an EP

i had to redo the drop queue in my tetris-like game several times because people didn't notice when other pieces didn't show up, but they *did* notice when the I piece took too long to show up

normal person: i just want a place to hang out with my friends
tech weirdo: and shitheads
np: no just my friends
tw: but what about hearing alternative views on race and gender?
np: we just want to hang out and goof around
tw: so where do the shitheads fit in then
np: no shitheads
tw: not following

It's possible, I see people talk to LLMs without realising it on facebook all the time

when you say minimal prompting, what do you mean? like system prompts to give an ai a personality?

06.10.2025 04:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah I fully expect it will start with much smaller games. Maybe you and some new fashioned cortana-like explore a deserted city.

06.10.2025 00:24 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

(When I say win I mean fully fool at least one of the judges. Prizes were awarded before that to the closest-to-human-speech chatbots even before they managed to fool one into thinking it was a human)

06.10.2025 00:19 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

If LLMs become a useful tool for characters it will be in the same mode -- an underlying model expertly shaped into a specific personality. It requires hand-crafting. In fact, I think Emily Short was working on software for something similar at one point? 2/2

06.10.2025 00:17 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

So in the history of chatbots, the first chatbots to "win" the loebner prize were ones that were given custom personalities. Developed by game developer Bruce Wilcox (who worked on dialogue systems for Telltale) and Sue Wilcox who designed the personalities. 1/2

I think the collapse is going to happen because china can make low-feed pigs you can keep in your backyard for occasionally getting a spider to write words, on the rare occasion that's useful

feels like what investors are betting on then is "given enough time and few enough morals, will someone manage to append wings to the pig?"

increasingly I don't think investors expect a monetary returns, but are paying billions for a product to exist.
or they expect openai to lose the least in a forth coming crash

3 little parcels. the first is made of leaves and has red and purple flowers adorning it. the second is made of seaweed and has more seaweed decorating it, the last one is made of cloth and has rocks and square coin looking things around it.

this is why people think all the polls get it wrong in elections. but an 80% chance to win is a 1/5 chance to lose
