Really honoured to have been recognised in this years Alumni Awards! My time at Edinburgh Napier was so special. I left with more than a degree; it changed the trajectory of my life.

Alongside their brilliant teacher, Sara Jenkins, they’ve built a culture that inspires female pupils, boosts confidence, and shows what’s possible in Computing Science.

The female uptake at their school is incredible - not just at BGE, but all the way through to AH!

Role models for pupils are incredibly important but peer role models hold significant influence. These senior dressCodeHQ mentors proved that! It’s been such a privilege to work with them and meet them.

A great opportunity for teachers delivering Computing Science across both primary and secondary schools in Scotland to share their views on the challenges facing the subject, exchange good practice, and contribute ideas and solutions for the future.

Every pupil deserves equal opportunities to experience Computing Science in our schools and decide if it is something they enjoy.

and inconsistent access across schools. Early exposure to Computing Science is essential for every pupil to experience and succeed. This depends directly on the recruitment of teachers, which ensures the subject can thrive in all schools and maintain equitable access.

Building Scotland’s tech talent pipeline starts in our classrooms – but not all pupils have equal access to Computing Science.

Unfortunately, this does not currently happen.
Research shows we need 50 new CS teachers every year. I believe this is entirely achievable.

Having a sustainable pipeline of Computing Science teachers would be a huge step towards achieving equity of access for all pupils, ensuring they all have an equal opportunity to experience the subject and discover if it is something they enjoy.

A strong Computing Science ecosystem in our schools is absolutely essential for the future of Scotland’s tech talent pipeline, and that pipeline begins in our classrooms. Dedicated teachers are at the heart of nurturing it.

It is great to see this initiative in place. This just really emphasises the importance of Computing Science as a subject in schools.

This is one of my favourite talks to deliver, and I've had the privilege of sharing it countless times over the years, adapting it as the story of our tech talent landscape continues to unfold.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of helping
