Muppet Treasure Island!

I’d forgotten how much fun that movie is!

I'm playing Ocarina of Time and I'm threading my comments about it here, so real quick:
-Yes, I have played it before
-I didn't like it and quit like 2-3 dungeons in
-It was over a decade ago and I don't remember anything
-No comment on what version I'm playing

Also not quite the same thing, but the way all of your squadmates are used in the last mission of Mass Effect 2 and in the Mass Effect 3 Citadel DLC also come to mind.

It’s not quite what you’re talking about, but my mind went to meeting Legion late in Mass Effect 2. I think the impact would have been even greater if the party select screen hadn’t shown that there was one more party member to recruit, but it was still an amazing, jaw dropping moment.

Statler as Jacob Marley and Waldorf as Robert Marley, as the first spirits to visit Scrooge. They are entirely gray and partly translucent. Their wrists are bound with heavy chains.

I’ve also always been a fan of subtle humor and my favorite throwaway joke in this is that Scrooge’s late partners are the Marley brothers: Jacob and Robert Marley. This means Scrooge worked with Bob Marley.

The Marley brothers are also played by my favorite muppets: Statler and Waldorf.

The Great Gonzo as Charles Dickens and Rizzo the Rat standing in a snowy London street. Gonzo is covered in blue fur and has a long nose. He is dressed in a red coat and brown top hat. Rizzo is in a brown coat with a gray hat and a red and yellow scarf.

Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge and Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit. Scrooge is dressed in all black with a black top hat. Cratchit is dressed in a plain gray coat.

I’ve always loved the Muppets and especially their adaptations of classics. The casting in these adaptations is usually fantastic, but the choice to have Gonzo narrate this as Charles Dickens and have Rizzo commentate on it is absolutely brilliant.

And Michael Caine is incredible as Scrooge!

December flew by and sadly, we were woefully behind on all things Christmas in 2025. Now it’s January 1st and we’re finally getting around to watching my favorite Christmas movie as a family: The Muppet Christmas Carol.

It’s a shockingly great adaptation of the Charles Dickens’ classic!

Both of these games have demos on Steam and are currently on sale for under $10 USD each. And both are well worth it at full price.

The other game that really impressed me this year actually released last year, but I didn't know about it until this year. And that was Minishoot Adventures!

This indie game asks "What if a 2D Zelda game was also a bullet hell?" The answer: it's awesome!

A quick honorable mention, though: Ooo!

It's an indie puzzle game that thoroughly explores a single mechanic, remote bombs, in increasingly creative and clever ways. I was completely blown away by the demo, immediately bought it, and loved every minute of it!

So anyway, Super Mario Odyssey is what sold me on the original Switch. I guess it's only fitting that its dev team's next project is what sold me on the Switch 2!

Objectively, it's not a perfect game. But subjectively...it really feels like it, though.

And that's why it's my 2025 Game of the Year.
