How does the brain reorganize in the context of age and AD?
Are functional changes in age and AD similar?
Are these changes dynamic across the age/AD spectrum?
We unpack these questions in a sample of N=973 with AD biomarkers

This is incredibly stressful to our Alzheimer's community (families and researchers). There are Alzheimer Disease Research Centers that are in limbo now - no council meetings means no notice of awards, means all the research we are doing to slow or prevent this disease is paused indefinitely.

Amyloid-associated hyperconnectivity drives tau spread across connected brain regions in Alzheimerβs disease
AΞ² induces neuronal hyperconnectivity, which promotes tau spreading from temporal lobe epicenters to connected brain regions in Alzheimerβs disease.
Incredibly happy and proud to share our newest work in
Science Transl Med showing that AΞ² promotes neuronal hyperconnectivity, thereby driving tau spread across connected brain regions. Many thanks to first authors @sebroemer.bsky.social and Fabian Wagner!

New Insights into NPC: a Form of Childhood Dementia
Research underscores involvement of the brainβs immune system
Neuro-#inflammation plays a crucial role in Niemann-Pick type C, a #raredisease associated with childhood #dementia. The research points to a biomarker, a molecule called TSPO, that could be useful in disease monitoring and assessing treatment response.
