Claire Foy is remarkable in H Is for Hawk, a tender tale of grief – review Based on the 2014 memoir by Helen Macdonald, the film revolves around a woman in mourning who takes in a bird of prey

i liked H IS FOR HAWK. guess i can relate to the notion of trauma bonding with a psychopathic bird

if you consider yourself somewhat decent at video games and want to be thoroughly humiliated, can i recommend assetto corsa competizione?

A brutal and hilarious murder thriller from South Korea’s master of shock – review An unemployed man kills off his competition for a new job in this twisty, slapstick black comedy

i love how park chan-wook’s movies make you feel complicit. NO OTHER CHOICE feels particularly tacky (in the adhesive sense), as if it might require a lint roller to finally scrape off its effect on you

Really demoralizing to watch a dystopian movie about a civilian being filmed and hunted by assassins and other civilians take dissent so unseriously. And then to go outside and wonder which cars are ICE stalking my neighbors.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a charmingly low-key GoT spin-off Here’s proof that fantasy shows don’t need bigger battlesβ€”just good characters, sharp writing and the confidence to tell a small story beautifully.

really enjoyed A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS, let us free ourselves from the need for spinoff shows to contribute to a wider narrative

What were Ben Affleck and Matt Damon thinking with the charmless The Rip? – review The pair are wasted – along with β€˜One Battle After Another’ breakout Teyana Taylor – in a movie seemingly made for people who are busy scrolling on their phones

THE RIP is a character piece with no characters but lots of cops complaining they aren’t loved and respected enough

Why 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple's controversial use of Jimmy Savile isn't at all what you think It's certainly got people talking.

wrote about 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE’s sir lord jimmy crystal & why christian theology helps contextualise the film’s invocation of jimmy savile

Totally agree. I loved 28 Years Later, but it's a lot more bonkers, and it has so much going on. The Bone Temple is now likely to be agreed as the second best film in the whole franchise. I loved every second. Go see it.

For me it didn't quite match the first 28YL but I see many saying they found DaCosta's entry superior and I'm very much okay with that. bsky.app/profile/clar...

doing a competitive job like this is so frequently demoralising bc there’s always somebody out there making an active effort to erase your existence or achievements for their own gain, there’s a real lack of basic solidarity and respect between writers

Oscar-primed Hamnet isn’t as manipulative as its critics claim – review Jessie Buckley, already the Best Actress Oscar frontrunner, is remarkable as William Shakespeare’s wife Agnes in ChloΓ© Zhao’s speculative grief drama

HAMNET is a very effective depiction of grief at a time where life is so fragile it must be constantly scoured for meaning
