Doesn’t work either. He’s not returning to his old stomping ground because Fulham were at home.

Israel has committed genocide in Gaza, UN commission of inquiry says The panel finds that four of the five genocidal acts defined under international law have been carried out against Palestinians during the war.

Iain Duncan Smith wanted the international courts to decide. Have any journos asked him if he agrees that Palestinians are being genocided again?

If we owned the land then there wouldn’t have been a rent dispute and we might still be there.

Who was it that started taking the Online Safety Act through parliament as Secretary of State? That very act Farage spent yesterday telling a congress committee is killing freedom of speech?

Oh yeah, Nadine Dorries.

It’s fine to just say you’re not a Rayner fan, you don’t like the CGT/stamp duty issues she’s been involved in and you’d like her removed. We don’t need to make up stuff about her having illicit earnings.

If they’re basing themselves in the south then plenty of people earning Β£160k will be in million pound houses because that’s what they cost. It’s 5x her income so pretty typical? Is there any evidence she’s taking cash for access?

She’s on Β£160k, has a mortgage, has made significant property gains, and was a recipient in a major medical negligence case. The register of MPs interests shows she’s not a huge earner and most of her donations are clearly for campaigning. Is there any evidence she’s been taking cash for influence?

Just a reminder that an individual's national insurance payments do not fund their State pension.

The average person's national insurance payments cover about half the cost of their state pension:

I had to make my daughter an account which meant creating her an email address. I linked our accounts. Then I bought it from my account but assigned it to her.

All looks very admirable but with the post-Truss lending situation breathing down our backs you’ve never explained how you’ll pay for it. Sadly that is an actual pertinent question.

Everyone knows Starmer and Reeves have fucked up but that’s because they’re deeply grounded in reality.

But you can just choose not to buy it? I haven’t bought mine. I would have at Β£30. Didn’t at Β£100. Supply and demand. That’s fine.

Everton are moving to generate more income. The customers are us, the supporters. Of course they’re trying to extract more money from us, that’s the whole point.

Is it though? The chancer working three jobs is of interest but an assault on home working that doesn’t explain that the current and previous governments are reducing the size of the estate and office space is missing vital context. Oh and why to Tufton Street for a quote?

I think the parking restrictions are being well overdone, but this isn’t his lookout. It’s Liverpool City Council. He isn’t the Mayor of that, despite his title. It’s the council we should be directing this at.

Basically consumers have less money so firms can’t charge them more.

06.02.2025 12:45 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes, basically.

Higher rates leave borrowers with less cash to spend and discourages further borrowing so there is less demand chasing the same supply of stuff and makes raising prices more difficult. Suppliers can’t raise prices without seeing demand drop off. It should cause inflation to slow.

06.02.2025 12:45 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

There are winners and losers (net borrowers and net savers) but inflation is predicted to remain above target so ordinarily the bank might be looking to hike rates. They don’t feel they can do that because of the very gloomy growth figures and they’re trying not to choke off demand in the economy.

Imagine how empowered Putin feels watching Trump and the USA threaten other NATO states and ripping the alliance to bits.

The first generation not to go to war got lazy and now the rest of us pay for it.

Under the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 a whole life order can only be given to someone who was aged 18 or over when they committed the crime.

Lobby for a change in the law by all means but just remember that when the usual suspects pretend to be outraged later today.
