Would I need to file new FOIAs for those?

Thank you! I have filed over 30 appeals this week. Unfortunately I have also realized that I never received anything in July/August for several January FOIAs that I received an initial letter promising fulfillment in February/March. I suppose it is now too late to check in on those (>90 days)?

Is it possible that B-ref used to have him in the 1960 ballot? Because a buddy and I are making our own HOF and have been importing our lists from B-ref. We had Kiner in 1960, imported maybe 6 months ago. Long break, we started up again today and looked to 1962 and saw it had Kiner as a 1st year

Went to England two years ago with my then one-year old and we took a day trip to Canterbury that we really enjoyed, stroller+baby and everything. Train ride was smooth. Didn’t seem overrun with fellow tourists. Loved the cathedral, the archeological ruins, and the shops.

I think you’re right, but as an elder millennial told all the time to go to college for a good job, I’ve been troubled by how my boomer parents’ generation did a huge about-face 10-15 years ago and started bashing 4-yr college and pushing trade jobs, w/ no acknowledgement of their former advice.

No, Army in this case. But given your comment, have you heard of nurses not getting benefits? I requested a c-file for a woman who was a Marine Corps nurse during WWII. Hoping she has a file!

Sad, but glad to hear I’m not alone. The latest letter did mention a VA liaison and another govt office I could reach out to as a second round appeal, and I think I’ll try it. If nothing else I just want to know how someone can be in BIRLS but have no file. Thus far they haven’t addressed that.

@reclaimtherecords.org received denial notice for a name I found in BIRLS; I filed an appeal. Just received notice that subsequent search found no c-file. Despite full name, DOB, DOD, SSN, and Army serial #. I don’t get how there is no c-file if he’s in BIRLS. Doesn’t make sense. Ever seen this?

That is terrible and will result in many people being unnecessarily banned. If they really want to insist on it they should further reduce the ballot size so that the odds of being on someone’s ballot increases. But far better to rescind this decision

Manager cards are highly underrated! More modern era but I just got Lou Piniella’s 2007 Topps card and I love it (besides collecting HOFers/should be HOFers, if they intersect with the Cubs I also get their Cubs “rookie”)

Interesting! Is this the same Syndicate that Kid Cann/Isidore Blumenfeld was involved in? Or were there separate Minneapolis and St Paul syndicates? I did some research a few years ago on Kid Cann because my mother-law’s aunt had married Cann’s best friend Barney Berman.

I have a PhD in biblical studies, which makes me an enemy to many church people b/c I disagree w/ popular Evangelical assumptions. Many Americans seem to hate experts of all kinds. So my experience is in a different realm but totally backs up what you’re saying.

100%. Keeping out someone because so-and-so isn’t in contributes over time to the increasingly smaller percent of players who get in and risks codifying mistakes. Even if a single voter chose not to vote for Johan, they can support Felix by changing their philosophy. We should encourage that.

Given Williamson’s credible case for Cooperstown itself, I was surprised to see recently that he is not even in the Cubs Team Hall of Fame (nor Bill Dahlen). I would love to see the Cubs remedy that, and in turn perhaps shine a little light on his case.

Recently noticed that Bill Dahlen and Ed/Ned Williamson are not in the Cubs HOF. I was shocked, so I emailed Cubs Fan Services to suggest them for next year. Anyone else willing to join the lobby? It’s not quite Cooperstown, but still an honor they deserve.

Yeah, “few” seems key. 2019 was still so packed, he’d have the same fate. But maybe by 2020 he would have made it. If only he could have played a few more years
