Trey Wingenter (2024)
Following his five game audition with the Cubs, Wingenter didn’t land a gig with an MLB team and took his talents to Japan. He posted a 1.74 ERA with 13.3 K/9 for the Seibu Lions in 2025.
Colten Brewer (2024)
Brewer pitched in 16 games for the 2024 Cubs with a 5.66 ERA. Following his outing on 7/6/24 where he allowed two hits, two walks, and a HBP, he fractured his hand after punching a dugout wall. He hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since.
Franmil Reyes (2022)

Madrigal was acquired from the White Sox on 7/30/21 in the infamous Craig Kimbrel swap. He dislocated his shoulder in spring training with the Mets and missed all of 2025. He is currently a free agent.

Sadler’s best year came the year after he left Chicago. In 2021 with Seattle, he posted a minuscule 0.67 ERA in 40.1 innings across 42 games. He was injured before the 2022 season and never pitched in MLB again and officially retired last November.
Hunter Bigge (2024)
Bigge made his MLB debut with the Cubs and pitched in four games total before being included in the Christopher Morel for Isaac Paredes swap. He appeared in 13 games for Tampa Bay in 2025.

Greene pitched in two games for the Cubs in 2023. Before that, he saved 32 games for Detroit in 2018 and was an All Star in 2019. He did not pitch in organized baseball in 2025 but is currently pitching in the Dominican Winter League.
Eli Morgan (2025)
Morgan pitched in seven games in March and April last season after being acquired from Cleveland. He ended with a 12.27 ERA and was non-tendered yesterday. He is now a free agent.
Duane Underwood Jr. (2018-2020)
Underwood is still just 31 years old but is no longer pitching in affiliated ball. He was with the Gastonia Ghost Peppers in the independent Atlantic League last season where he was teammates with former Cubs Narciso Crook and Trevor Cahill.
Eric Hosmer (2023)
Hosmer’s 31 games with the Cubs were the final games of his career. During his MLB career he won a World Series with Kansas City, three Gold Gloves, and a Silver Slugger. He was also an All Star in 2016.
Jeremiah Estrada (2022-2023)
Estrada threw 16.1 innings with a 5.51 ERA across 17 games for the Cubs. He was outrighted off the 40-man roster and picked up by San Diego. Since joining the Padres, he’s pitched to a 3.22 ERA with 202 strikeouts in 134 innings.
Nate Pearson (2024-2025)
Pearson was acquired from Toronto at the deadline in 2024. He signed a Major League deal with Houston in October.
Keegan Thompson (2021-2024)
Thompson had a 3.64 career ERA as a Cub. That Cub career covered 104 games and 23 starts. He was DFA’d in March, outrighted to Iowa, and never made it back to Chicago. He signed a 1-year deal with Cincinnati this month.
Jason Adam (2020-2021)
Adam pitched in 25 games with a 4.44 ERA for the Cubs. He had a 14.8 SO/9 ratio but it was the walks that did him in (5.2 per 9 innings). He found his footing in Tampa before being traded to San Diego where he was an All Star last season.
Jose Martinez (2020)
Martinez was 0-21 in his Cubs career.
Jack Neely (2024)
Acquired at the deadline in 2024 for Mark Leiter Jr., Neely appeared in six games following the trade. He remains in the organization but did not appear at the big league level last season.
Adam Morgan (2021)
Morgan is best remembered by Cubs fans for being on the delivering end of Jason Heyward’s walk-off grand slam against Philadelphia on 6/6/18.
Morgan is less remembered for his 25.1 innings and 4.26 ERA as a Cub at the end of the 2021 season.
Ildemaro Vargas (2020-2021, 2022)
Vargas appeared in 38 games for Arizona in 2025 in what was his third stint with the team.
Ryan Brasier (2025)
Brasier was drafted out of Weatherford College, the same school Jake Arrieta started his collegiate career at before finishing at TCU.
Mychal Givens (2022)

A two-time Gold Glove winner with Cincinnati, Barnhart was signed to a two year deal before the 2023 season. He only made it to August before being released after hitting .202 in 43 games. He appeared in 8 games for Texas last season.
Ryan Meisinger (2021)
Meisinger appeared in seven August games in 2021. He allowed 10 earned runs in 7.1 innings pitched. The Cubs lost all seven games he appeared in.

Tony Wolters (2021)
Wolters last played professionally in 2023. Following that season, he was hired by the Rockies to be a coach in the Arizona Complex League.
Jose Cuas (2023-2024)
Cuas pitched in 25 games during the 2025 season between Philadelphia’s AAA team and Atlanta’s AA team. He was released in August and is now a free agent currently pitching in the Dominican Winter League.
