#OnThisDay, 2135:

The United Earth Star Fleet Space Academy opened its doors to cadets for the first time, under the leadership of founder and Superintendent Stavros Niarchos VII. It shared its grounds with the UESF HQ on the Marin Peninsula, and would later become UFPSFA's Main Campus in 2161.

Sadly, Dr. Hendron is ultimately killed in a shuttle crash near Jupiter on December 20. The science department goes without a head until shortly before launch, when Sub-Commander T'Pol of the Vulcan Science Group is assigned to the ship.

Starfleet quickly launches a media blitz in preparation for the launch of their first Warp 5 ship. Archer and Hendron make many appearances on news programs, children's educational shows, late night talk shows, and even during Ambassador Soval's hosting of Saturday Night Live.

Trip brings his entire division from Saratoga to serve as the engineering department. Hendron begins recruiting from across Starfleet Science, and even manages to enlist famed archaeologist Dr. Lynn Spitz of the Altair colony excavations.

He already has two people in mind for his crew. The first is Charles "Trip" Tucker III, currently deputy engineer on Saratoga, to be his chief. The second is the celebrated astronomer Dr. Cole Hendron, a friend of his late father, to be his science officer.

#OnThisDay, 2150:

Commander Jonathan Beckett Archer is called to Starfleet HQ. In the office of Vice Admiral Forrest, he receives the news he had been wanting to hear for years: he is to be Captain of Enterprise.

The shuttlepods were built by Antonov in Ukraine.

ACOM, Angola's largest technology firm, built the computer core.

The warp nacelles were constructed by Chengdu Group in Shanghai.

The hull was designed by the European aerospace firms Fincantieri and BAE. United Earth Steel manufactured the tritanium for construction.

The construction of Enterprise was a truly global effort. As the ship was meant to represent all of humanity, companies throughout the world were contracted to build the ship.

Dr. Arik Soong is captured by the Vulcan Argosy and delivered to Earth. His trial becomes a media circus as he stole twenty augment embryos for what is then an unknown purpose.

Lynn Spitz was popularly known as the Professor of Altair. He had been the leading archaeologist on the colony for over twenty years, writing numerous books about the long-extinct alien civilization.
