Dinosaur of the day: Deinonychus! This ferocious Dromaeosaur was originally going to serve as the main antagonist in Jurassic Park. Michael Crichton felt the name wasn't very imposing, so he instead went with a fictitious giant species of Velociraptor.

Dinosaur of the day: Zuul crurivastor or "Zuul, Destroyer of Shins." This ankylosaur was discovered in Montana. It was named for Zuul, one of Gozer's servants in Ghostbusters. And for the fact its tail was perfectly situated to take out some human shins.

Here's my dinosaur of the day: The Utahraptor. First named in 1993, this massive Dromaeosaur was terrorizing what would become the United States about 60 millions before its more diminutive cousin, the Velociraptor showed up in what would become Mongolia.
