A native Italian speaker has informed me that "teschietti" sounds more natural, so I defer to their judgement!

What do you do when you have no orecchiette for the recipe you want to make, but you remember that you have a couple of silicon skull moulds?... I think I'm going to call them "teschini."

But I am not indifferent. And I see the kind of things some of you psychopaths post and comment, and I won’t forget it. And I’m sure some of you are going to have the audacity to be surprised someday when you find out that I don’t trust you.

There are plenty of people relaying and opining and informing more eloquently than I can, and everyone’s feed is already fraught; there’s nothing I can say that will add context or understanding or change hearts and minds or do anything but add noise to a world that is already too noisy.

But please do not believe that I am indifferent to what is happening in the world. Quite the opposite: It’s more that I don’t have anything new to add to the conversation that a hundred other people on your timeline this morning haven’t already said.

I don’t post a lot of what you might call “political” content – which can be difficult when living through times like these when everything feels political – most of what you’ll see from me here is nerdy language stuff, or pictures of food or travel, maybe the occasional meme or joke.

then applied to new roots: medj- and gedj-, respectively. So, me-medju ‘comedy’ and tra-gedju ‘tragedy’. However, as with many classical calques, the prefixes are optional, and the adjective forms become medja ‘comedic’ and gedja ‘tragic’.

But the really funny* part is Europic. This is a little joke that Chrysanthi, the fictional future creator of the Europic language in 2097, sneaked into the corpus: The words for ‘comedy’ and ‘tragedy’ have been reanalyzed as classical borrowings com- ‘with’ (which becomes me-) and tra- ‘through’,

On the Valthungian side, the standard spelling is given, but there is also a “traditionalist” spelling for most words (recently) borrowed from Latin and Greek, so you might also see ⟨tragœudicus⟩. (Even the traditionalist spelling uses ⟨œu⟩ for Latin ⟨oe⟩ for reasons I won’t go into here.)

This one is interesting* in a couple of different ways:
