you can never imagine your life without the kid, but at the same time there's an intense grief of the person who you used to be

you are counting the days to each every new milestone and new thing they learn and immediately grieving the baby that you will no longer every have because they grew up

what i'm learning about motherhood is that it's an exercise in dialectics:

you want to be next to your baby every single second of every day but you are also craving some time alone so badly

it actually really does help with my anxiety

i am fat and that is just a fact. the only thing that word describes is the size of my body, it does not imply that i'm ugly or lazy or sick or that i have low self esteem.

you don't have to defend me from the word. the word is harmless, the stigma is hurtful.

when you say "i feel fat" to have someone tell you "no, you look great!" - that's an insult to fat people.

telling someone "no, you're not fat, you're just curvy" - that's insulting to fat people.

being afraid to use the word because you associate it with an insult - that's insulting to fat people

psa for thin people: the word "fat" is not an insult. the intention behind it is. i hate when people use terms like "bigger sized" or "curvy" or something like that in an attempt to be polite. the problem is not the word, it's that you imply that it means something bad.

a piece of advice that no one asked for:
when buying baby bottles for your child, check to see whether they are compatible with other brands. you never know what your child is going to like and if they are similar sizes you can use them with the preferred nipple

My country will have to pay for centuries to try to repay the damage and destruction it caused Ukraine. I just can't wait until we can finally start doing that instead of causing more suffering.

I would have never thought that something like this can become normalized. And yet, I have lived to see it happen.

I just hope that I will get to see the day Ukraine is victorious and the day Putin's regime will be put on trial for their crimes against humanity.

This has become the new normal. War is no longer a mythical thing or a legendary thing in my life. It's in my backyard, in my home, it affects every aspect of my life, and I'm not even living in the war zone at the moment.

It was something mythical, scary and overwhelming. Now, it has been more than 1000 days of war in my home country. I start every day checking reports from the front to see the news of destruction and death. To see what new towns have been bombed, where the battlegrounds have shifted.

I was partly raised by my grandmother who was an adult during WW2 in the SSSR. Because of that the word "war" was a very common thing discussed in our household and it was something that I learned about, but always thought to myself "I'm so glad I wasn't alive then".

This year, as is the case every year, I’m thankful for all the freaks who don’t just keep all their smutty headcanons in their mind, but publish it for all of us to enjoy

moral of the story is that sometimes it's ok to remind someone to give you affection because they might just be very busy and sleep deprived

my dog has definitely had a hard time adjusting to no longer being the only child. the sulked for months and now finally decided to take fate into her own hands and she will just jump over to me and headbutt me until i pay her attention. strong oldest child energy

The only other language I know well enough to actually speak to is Russian, and it is vastly more complicated to decode.

Now what I want to know is whether this is actually unique to English or if there are other languages that have similar structures that make them so recognizable in cryptograms specifically

I’ve been playing a lot of cryptogram decoding games on my phone recently and my extremely non expert option is that the English language is just so uniquely suitable for being super easy to decode in comparison to other languages

As someone who is managing their chronic depression quite well, managing depression is so much freaking work, no wonder I can’t get anything done

Also the performers are so freaking into their music, it’s just such a joy to watch.

Probably my favorite organization in Chicago is the Chicago Civic Orchestra. They give free performances about once a month, always an absolute delight to watch and the pieces they choose range from well known classics to extremely experimental and contemporary music.
