When I was young and the economy was in the midst of a recession, one of the more attractive features of DC for me was that I wouldn’t need a car to move around. I also have a degree in Government, so it lined up, but people shouldn’t have to move across the country for that.

public transportation was one major reason I went to grad school in San Francisco over some other choices. I knew I couldn't afford a car on my stipend. It was also a potent lesson on where accessible public transportation, like BART, is allowed to go (SF and the Easy Bay) and where it isn't (Marin)
