A view of the High Force waterfall in Upper Teesdale, NE England, captured after a period of heavy rain. The swollen Tees is plummeting through two channels, rather than usually just one, as the peat-stained water plunges 70ft (21m).

An ornamental stone lion in Sunderland's Mowbray Park, NE England, covered in a dusting of snow β a taste, maybe, of what is to come when the season of winter arrives later this month.
Winter looked to have arrived early in NE England, a couple of weeks ago in Sunderland's Mowbray Park.
Looking ahead to the festive season, long-range forecasts in the UK are currently suggesting a white Christmas is looking less likely for most.

A November sunset at an iconic landmark of NE England. The sun is captured setting between the columns of Penshaw Monument, completed in 1845 (funded by public subscription) to commemorate John Lambton, 1st Earl of Durham (1792β1840), Governor-General of British North America and author of the Durham Report on the future governance of the American territories.
Inspired by the Temple of Hephaestus in Athens and the care of the National Trust since 1939, it is a Grade I listed structure.

As I understand it, Bede was brought by his parents to the monastery of Monkwearmouth first, by his family, where he was tutored under Benedict Biscop and later by Ceolfrith. He would later transfer to Jarrow after it was founded in AD682.
