But most of all I would tell her that getting older is really cool and worth every second 🥹

I would run her a game of D&D so we could fall in love with it sooner. I would tell her to stop listening to her parents so much and to think for herself. I would tell her to take languages in college so we could pursue a PhD rather than regret what we could have had.

I would tell her not to move to Florida and to skip straight to Washington instead. I would tell her that someday, she'd get to finally stretch her ears. I would tell her to be nicer to the first guy she had a crush on in high-school, that he's gay and just as confused as you are.

If 13 year old me could see what I looked like at 29, she would be OVERJOYED. I would explain all of our tattoos. I would tell her not to get that conch piercing at 22. I would tell her to try kissing a girl, just once, to see what she thinks. I would show her the book we published.

It's been a few days since I finished The Radient King duology, and I'm still thinking about it. Those books really snuck up on me, I'm not gonna lie. Such a beautiful, intense representation of the many facets of being queer, the savagery of war, the messiness of politics... I ate that shit up 👀
